The Bigs 2 Impressions

image1

We will have a high quality video of and online game of The Bigs 2 up later tonight.  In the meantime I wanted to give a few impressions after playing the game the past two evenings.  I have played quite a few games but all of them have been online so I will let Kev come in and comment later with his thoughts on the single player so far. Tuesday night was of course launch day and the servers weren’t quite ready for prime time.  There was some lag, a disconnect and then the servers going down for an unknown time about midnight CST.  Wednesday night however seemed flawless.  No noticeable lag at all except in one of the mini catch games where you have to hit four buttons with some timing.  Neither Kev nor I were doing well with it even though it looked as if we did it correctly.  It’s quite possible that the server downtime on Tuesday evening was 2k patching the servers. It’s great that they got it ironed out quickly. Gameplay is fun and strategic when you have two equally matched players.  One thing to note is that with the difficulty setting at medium the catching mini games are much to easy.  I’m not sure though if turning it up to hard is going to affect the pitching/batter difficulty.  As of right now it’s plenty hard to hit if the pitcher has a good fastball-changeup combo.  My hope is that moving it up to hard will just affect the mini games and the AI and not the speed of the pitching.  We played about five or six games last night and while I kept telling myself to stop and go to bed I ended up playing about 3 “just one more games”.    One of the nice things as you will see in the video is a default 5 inning game takes under 15 minutes so it’s not a game where you need to commit an hour to in order to get in a couple games. Edit:  Vids are up.  Also wanted to mention that I am really disappointed that it’s right at halfway through the MLB season and 2k doesn’t have anywhere close to an updated roster out for The Bigs 2 Be sure to check back for single player impressions and the videos. Hit “read more” to read some single player impressions.

BIGS 2 Media

2ksports has just posted four relatively new videos on their website. One video shows off gameplay and the other three show off the best animations in the game. I know myself and Damon will be purchasing the BIGS 2, so comment and tell us if you are as well!

BIGS 2 demo impressions and footage

The BIGS 2 demo was just put out this morning on the Xbox live Marketplace. The download is 613 MB and features the ability to play as the all star teams. The demo is 3 innings total! You can also play a “Pin Ball” game mode which was interesting. You stand in the middle of the street and get points for hitting different structures. This was my first time playing the series, I think I played the BIGS 1 demo once though. It took me a little while to get used to the game. I thought at first the game would be pretty boring. But the mini games they have for legendary catches are awesome, and so is the power boost when you fill up your meter at the top. Overall the game is just a quick ball of fun. I actually have a feeling that I will look more into this game, because I know there is a career mode. David Ortiz actually came up to pinch hit and nailed a rocket towards my third baseman..Check out the video to see what happens to him! I also think the gameplay is pretty neat, a couple of times my players would drop a fly ball but another player would catch it. I think if you are looking to have fun with a baseball title, this could help you out! Download the demo now, and watch my video below!
