2K Sports Adds 45 All-New Legends to NBA 2K12

Today 2K Sports announced the surprise addition of 45 all-new legendary basketball players exclusive to NBA 2K12’s “Legends Showcase” downloadable add-on content pack.

Included in the batch are legendary NBA players such as Yao Ming, George Mikan, Bob Cousy, Kevin Johnson, and Bernard King to name a few. The players will be re-rated in order to play at the peak of their careers, and they will wear their team uniforms unique to that year. 2K Sports previously announced that Legends Showcase allows gamers to select from more than 160 of the NBA’s all-time greatest players, including Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Dr. J. By adding 45 more legends to the downloadable content add-on pack, there are now more than 330 total players, legend and current, available in NBA 2K12 Legends Showcase! Complete List of New Legends

About NBA 2K12 Legends Showcase: Legends Showcase will be available this holiday season for $9.99 via PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 and for 800 Microsoft Points via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360. Legends Showcase creates a truly unique basketball experience for all fans, featuring a new, cell-shaded art style set in New York City’s iconic Time Square. This downloadable add-on enhances NBA 2K12 by providing a never-seen-before gaming experience, unlocking hours of additional gameplay and giving fans an all-new way to end the debate over who is the greatest basketball player of all time. Today I am here to talk about ‘My Jordans’, one of the features related to our partnership with Michael Jordan. As the name implies, this feature centers around the collection of shoes available from the fine folks at Jordan Brand. And because I know you are already antsy, YES, we have every Air Jordan in the game all the way from the Air Jordan I through the Air Jordan 2010! Read on to find out more… To some people, they are just shoes. To others, they are the culture that defines the NBA. To us, they are authenticity… plain and simple. As I’m sure you noticed, there are attribute bonuses tied to each shoe. Every unlockable Jordan Brand shoe in the game has an attribute tied to it this year. When a player is wearing a particular pair of shoes, he will get the attribute bonus added to his skills. This is particularly useful in My Player mode where there are attribute caps. These shoes allow you to exceed those caps giving you the ultimate opportunity to differentiate your player from others. You’ll notice above that I referred to these shoes as ‘unlockable’ shoes. We’re not going to send you on a wild chase where you have to go perform various tasks to get access to the shoes. We’re simply going to reward you for playing the game. Every couple of hours of play, a new pair of shoes will be made available to you. You can be playing Quick Games, Association games, My Player, Online, whatever. Just play and the shoes will come. The shoes do not unlock in the same order for everyone, but rather in a weighted random order with respect to how scarce they are in the real world. For example, all of the shoes above with a ‘+2’ bonus will likely unlock much sooner than the shoes with the higher bonuses. The higher end shoes will definitely give you a big advantage over the competition, particularly in My Player Pick-Up games. The real prize here is obviously the Air Jordan XI, with a number of the ‘+5’ shoes hot on its heels. And remember, all you have to do to unlock these shoes is play the game! NBA 2K11 Demo Coming September 14th

2K Sports announced today the demo release date for NBA 2K11. The demo will hit Xbox Live and PSN September 14th and feature the Lakers vs. Celtics. This is the earliest they have released a NBA 2K demo which some feel is a good sign that a company is very confident with their game.

New mode in NBA® 2K11 allows gamers to relive Michael Jordan’s greatest career moments New York, NY – July 22, 2010 – 2K Sports today revealed The Jordan Challenge, a new game mode for the latest iteration of the top rated and top selling basketball simulation franchise*, NBA® 2K11. This new mode will allow players to relive 10 different legendary games from Michael Jordan’s illustrious career and challenge them to replicate what he did on the court in NBA 2K11. “Fans of the series are going to be thrilled to know that in NBA 2K11 Michael Jordan is much, much more than just a cover athlete,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “We’re excited to start talking about the ways that Michael will be used in the game and there’s still a lot more to come.” While playing The Jordan Challenge, fans can try to stun the world in Jordan’s self-described greatest game by torching the Cavaliers by 69 points in March of 1990; attempt to battle back from the flu to defeat the Jazz in Game 6 of the 1997 finals; or leave the world wanting more as they relive one of Jordan’s finest performances during his last game as a Chicago Bull on June 14, 1998. In addition to The Jordan Challenge mode, gamers will have the unique opportunity to play as some of the greatest teams in NBA history, including the ‘85-’86, ’89-’90, ’90-’91, ’94-’95, ’95-’96, ’96-’97, and ’97-’98 Chicago Bulls. NBA 2K11 is not yet rated by the ESRB and will be available October 5, 2010.
