EA Sports is now letting the community vote for 3 players they want to see on the Knicks, Hornets, and Nets.
New York Knicks
Yaw’s Choice: Al Harrington/David Lee/ Danilo Gallinari
This selection was a tough one for me to make but my first pick would definitely be Al Harrington. He’s athletic, can score in different ways and he’s established himself as a key player for the Knicks. Next up is David Lee. He’s gritty, can bang inside with the best of them and he plays with a lot of heart. The third guy I would take is Danilo Gallinari. I really like his game and he’s been impressive this year. I know this pick will raise a lot of eye brows as there’s still Wilson Chandler, Nate Robinson and Larry Hughes but this is the team I would roll with in JAM if I’m playing as the Knicks.
Jeremy’s Choice: Danilo Gallinari/Nate Robinson/Al Harrington
Nate Robinson is flat out made for Jam. He’s fast, can hit 3′s, dunk and he’s a little guy to boot. I know he’s more of a reserve, but I just don’t care in this case. When Nate defends his Slam Dunk crown on All-Star weekend, you will be wishing you picked him too. As for the other guys, Gallinari is simply a 3pt monster, plus he’s got size so that’s a winner for me. That leaves me with having to pick between the two current leading scorers on the team, both of which you picked. This is a very tough choice, but I’m going w/ Al. I can’t really justify him over David Lee, except for his outside shooting, but I’m a big fan of the 3pt shot in Jam so there it is…
New Orleans Hornets
Yaw’s Choice: Chris Paul/Peja Stojakovic/David West
Chris Paul is a no brainer. Not having the best point guard in the NBA on your team just doesn’t make any sense. Next up is Peja Stojakovic. Having a three point bomber to compliment Chris Paul just makes the Hornets so much more dangerous in JAM. My third pick has got to be David West. Emeka Okafor is solid but you want a scorer on your team and David West brings more of that than Emeka does so it’s pretty clear cut for me.
Jeremy’s Choice: Chris Paul/Peja Stojakovic/David West
Ho Hum… Here we go agreeing with each other again. Even though Peja is clearly descending down the other side of the hill, I don’t really care if he can’t do much else other than bomb away from the outside. Bombing three’s equals good times in my book. I could also be a contrarian and go with Okafor, since he would be the best shot blocker of the bunch, but West plays too central a role in the offense to put him out in the cold.
New Jersey Nets
Yaw’s Choice: Devin Harris/Brook Lopez/Yi Jianlian
Devin Harris is first up if I play as the Nets. He’s got good handles, he’s quick and can attack the basket at will. Next up for me is Brook Lopez. This guy has all the tools and potential to be one of the best centers in the NBA. He still has work to do but from what I’ve seen from him up to this point in his career he’s a definite pick for me if I were to play with the Nets in JAM. My last pick is Yi Jianlian. He’s not exactly the next Yao Ming but he’s slowly coming into his own. He’s a solid shooter who can rebound and of course when you’re doing that when you’re 7 ft. tall says a lot. He’s still young and he’s got a lot of room for improvement. I know others would take Courtney Lee over Yi but Courtney needs to score more before he’s on my roster in JAM.
Jeremy’s Choice: Devin Harris/Brook Lopez/Yi Jianlian
Oh the record-breaking Nets… They were 0-18 to start the season and made many a happy Clipper and former Heat player (previous owners of the 0-17 record). Brook Lopez and Devin Harris are easy picks. That 3rd player is a bit tougher though. Chris Douglas-Roberts? Courtney Lee? Yi Jianlian? I’m torn between Douglas-Roberts and Yi really. Yi has really stepped up his game after coming back from injury so I’ll give him the nod too. Sure I could pick Douglas-Roberts, but I’m feeling agreeable today Yaw.
